Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" spent a 22nd week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, tying the longest run at the top in the chart's history, Billboard reported. The record it matches belongs to Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You."
Carey's song has returned to No. 1 in December in multiple years, accumulating its 22 weeks across those runs. Langley's 22 weeks all landed inside 2026, beginning with the chart dated February 14 and running through September 19 — a span of 32 chart weeks.
The run was not continuous. "Choosin' Texas" was displaced and reclaimed the top repeatedly across that span, ceding No. 1 in individual weeks to Bad Bunny's "DTMF," Taylor Swift's "Opalite" and "I Knew It, I Knew You," Bruno Mars' "I Just Might," BTS' "Swim," Olivia Rodrigo's "Drop Dead," Drake's "Janice STFU" and Ariana Grande's "Hate That I Made You Love Me," per the 2026 chart record. Its longest unbroken stretch came in the summer, from July 4 through September 19.
Two weeks before the tie, the song had already set a separate record. Its 20th week at No. 1 gave it the most weeks on top of any non-holiday song in Hot 100 history, passing Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" and Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. It is also the longest-running No. 1 by any country artist.
"Choosin' Texas" was released October 17, 2025 on Sawgod, Columbia Records and Sony Music Nashville as the lead single from Langley's second album, Dandelion. She wrote it with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor, and produced it with Lambert and Ben West. Lambert also sings background vocals. The single is certified 6× platinum by the RIAA and reached No. 1 in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, per its chart and certification record.
Langley, 27, released her debut album Hungover in 2024, with "You Look Like You Love Me" and "Weren't for the Wind" both topping country charts. Dandelion debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in April 2026.
Uristocrat has covered two other Hot 100 record stories this year. Drake broke a tie with Michael Jackson for Hot 100 No. 1s among solo male artists in May, and in July Spotify removed 500,000 streams from a No. 1 song after suspicious betting activity.
