J. Cole's Dreamer Indie 5000 releases today, Wednesday, September 23, in Fayetteville, N.C., the same day Cole returns to the Crown Coliseum for a sold-out show. It is the first shoe from his Dreamer brand since his Puma partnership ended, and Sole Retriever reports it was designed, developed and manufactured independently. The pair is white leather with blue zig-zag panels. The release is in person only, and no price has been announced. Cole said on Instagram the shoe was five years in the making, according to a report carried by Yahoo. Cole's Fall-Off Tour began in July, per our tour announcement.
Also today: the Nike G.T. Future EYBL "Unseen Hours" (IX5229-700, Topaz Gold/Black/Sunblush) releases for $210 on Nike.com and at select retailers. It is the retail version of the pair Nike's EYBL players wore at Peach Jam this summer.
Saturday, September 26, brings two retros. The Nike Kobe 3 Protro "Orca" (IQ5340-001) returns for $210, the colorway's first release since 2008; Kobe Bryant wore the black high-top on the road during his 2007-08 MVP season. The Air Jordan 1 Low OG "Garden" (IR0088-001) drops the same day for $155, marking March 8, 1998, when Michael Jordan scored 42 in his last game at Madison Square Garden as a Bull.

Kawhi Leonard agreed to a two-year, $115 million extension with the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday. The deal starts in 2027-28 and carries a player option for 2028-29. Leonard, 35, earns $50.3 million this season and waived a trade kicker of roughly $7.5 million to make the numbers work. Toronto acquired him from the Clippers for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick and draft picks, seven years after he led the franchise to the 2019 title.
The Tampa Bay Rays clinched their fifth AL East title with a 6-1 win at Yankee Stadium in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader, after losing the opener 2-0. Drew Rasmussen allowed one hit in 6 2/3 innings, and Yandy Díaz drove in four runs with two two-run singles. In the NFL, Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart could need season-ending knee surgery, Pro Football Rumors reported, citing ESPN's Adam Schefter. Dart was hurt on the Giants' first possession of Monday's 28-6 loss to the Rams, and the injury is worse than the initial MCL sprain diagnosis. Head coach John Harbaugh said no final decision has been made. Jameis Winston, who signed a two-year, $13 million extension on September 6, is expected to start.
Tonight at 8 p.m. ET, the New York Liberty host the Atlanta Dream at Barclays Center in the regular-season finale for both teams. Atlanta (29-14) beat New York 95-84 on Monday, a result that left the Liberty unable to finish higher than fifth, so they will open the playoffs on the road. Paramount Skydance settled the lawsuit 12 state attorneys general filed to block its $110 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery. California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the deal on Monday. The settlement requires no up-front divestitures. It binds the combined company to five years of commitments: 30 films a year in the first two years and 32 a year after that, at least $1.5 billion more in U.S. production spending, and a five-journalist board overseeing editorial independence at CNN and CBS. Each missed film carries a $30 million penalty. A federal judge still has to approve the settlement, and a hearing is set for tomorrow, September 24. In music, Jhené Aiko's Westside Whimsy debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 74,000 album-equivalent units, REVOLT reported. It is her first No. 1 album and the first R&B album by a woman to top the chart in 2026. The 20-track album arrived September 11 with a few days' notice and features Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Larry June and Tyga.

OpenAI released GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna on Tuesday. Both are in ChatGPT Work, Codex for paid accounts and the API, with Luna rolling out to Free and Go users. Sol, built for coding and complex work, costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, half the $4/$20 price of GPT-5.6 Sol. Luna, built for high-volume tasks like summarizing documents, costs $0.10/$0.50, down from $0.20/$1.20. An OpenAI spokesperson told VentureBeat the prices are permanent, not promotional. TechCrunch noted Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5 about 90 minutes before OpenAI's announcement.
In China, Alibaba unveiled the Zhenwu V900 AI chip at its Apsara Conference in Hangzhou. Alibaba says it delivers three times the performance of the Zhenwu M890 it released in May, and CEO Eddie Wu set a target of more than 20GW of Alibaba Cloud data center capacity by 2032.
