Nike G.T. Cut 1 "Unseen Hours DMV" Released May 22 for $200

Nike released the G.T. Cut 1 in an "Unseen Hours DMV" colorway on Friday, May 22 at Nike.com and select Nike Basketball retailers for $200. Style code CZ0175-600. The pair anchors the second slot of the three-shoe Unseen Hours DMV pack, between the Zoom Hyperflight and the GT Future, all in the same cherry-blossom-pink language.

The Cut 1 specifically

The GT Cut 1 is Nike Basketball's most consistent on-foot silhouette of the past three seasons. Originally released in 2021, the Cut 1 went viral with NBA players (Devin Booker, Trae Young, Sabrina Ionescu) who wore it in regular games long before they had signature shoes of their own. The silhouette is unusually light, exceptionally low to the ground, and remains one of the best basketball shoes Nike has made for guards in the modern era. That backstory is part of why this DMV treatment matters — the Cut 1 has the audience and the credibility to carry a regional storytelling pack on its own.

The execution here keeps the Cut 1's mesh-and-overlay build intact and runs cherry-blossom pink across the entire upper, with subtle embroidered blossom motifs on the heel and tongue. The Swoosh, sole unit, and inner lining stay neutral, which gives the shoe a one-tone wearability the more graphic Hyperflight in the same pack does not chase.

The DMV thesis, repeated

"DMV" — Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia — is where Nike is staging this pack culturally. The cherry blossom motif references the National Cherry Blossom Festival around the Tidal Basin. The region is also one of the most basketball-dense markets in the country: it produced Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, and a long roster of Maryland-to-NBA careers. Building an Unseen Hours pack around the DMV is Nike acknowledging the area without naming a single player — and pricing it at $200 to keep it a regional collector item rather than a casual buy.

Of the three shoes in the pack, the Cut 1 is the one most likely to actually be worn on a court. The Hyperflight is the lifestyle statement piece. The GT Future leans loud-and-experimental. The Cut 1 is the pair the audience this pack speaks to will actually take to the gym.

The pack as a whole

The Unseen Hours DMV release is, structurally, a three-shoe themed pack — what Nike Basketball used to do with City Editions and Black History Month runs in the late 2010s and largely stopped doing during 2022-2024. Reviving the format with the GT family plus a retro silhouette is the cleanest signal yet that the brand is repositioning Nike Basketball storytelling around regional and seasonal motifs rather than purely around its top-tier signature athletes. The same week the Knicks are running the eastern playoff bracket, Nike is quietly building basketball-culture product around the cities its players come from. The pack works because the silhouettes already worked.
