Nike is bringing back the Air Griffey Max 1 "Cincinnati Reds" on October 9 for $180, reviving a colorway that has not released since 2011. The shoe carries style code JA1091-100, with grade-school sizes priced at $122.
The design pairs a varsity red upper with crisp white overlays wrapping the mudguard and midfoot, with black detailing on the Swoosh, lace system, and midsole accents — the same three-tone combination the Reds wore during Ken Griffey Jr.'s nine seasons with the franchise, which ran from 2000 to 2008. Griffey's No. 24 appears in white on the lateral strap.
The Air Griffey Max 1 originally launched in 1996 as Nike's cross-training silhouette built around Griffey's game, and the Cincinnati Reds colorway specifically dates to a 2011 release that has been out of circulation for 15 years. Its return this week follows two other 2026 reissues of the model — the "Freshwater" colorway in May and the HBCU Swingman Classic pair in July — making this the silhouette's third notable comeback of the year.
Nike is timing the release to the MLB postseason, giving the baseball-specific silhouette a seasonal tie-in moment it hasn't had in over a decade. The shoe releases October 9 at Nike SNKRS, Foot Locker, Finish Line, Shiekh, and Hibbett.
