Google announced the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL on August 12 at its Made by Google event in New York, an evening Engadget noted was hosted by Trevor Noah. Pre-orders opened the same day. All three phones reach the Google Store and retail partners on August 20.
The Pixel 11 starts at $899, the Pixel 11 Pro at $1,099 and the Pixel 11 Pro XL at $1,299. A fourth device, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, starts at $1,899, and Google also used the event to introduce the Pixel Watch 5 and a Pixel Tag tracker, per Android Authority.
Tensor G6 and the on-device AI pitch
Every Pixel 11 runs Tensor G6, which Google calls its "fastest, most powerful chip yet" against the outgoing Tensor G5. The company cites 25% faster web browsing and 15% quicker app launches on the CPU side, and 50% more TPU compute paired with the latest Gemini Nano. Google says the combination processes on-device AI tasks up to 3.5 times faster while using up to 3.5 times less energy.
Uristocrat has covered the same inference-cost problem further up the stack: OLIX raised a $312M Series B at a $3.3 billion valuation for photonic AI inference chips, and Naïve raised $28.5M to build infrastructure for AI-run companies.
The chip also carries an upgraded image signal processor and a Titan M3 security chip with post-quantum cryptography.
Storage and displays
Every Pixel 11 now starts at 256GB of storage.
The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL carry what Google describes as its brightest-ever Super Actua display, rated up to 3,600 nits, with an anti-scratch coating the company says more than doubles scratch resistance. The standard Pixel 11 uses an Actua display in a satin metal frame.
Cameras
The Pixel 11 gets a new 48-megapixel main sensor with 56% more light sensitivity and a 5x telephoto supporting 30x Super Zoom. The Pro and Pro XL get a new main sensor plus an upgraded 48-megapixel telephoto with 30% more light sensitivity, Pro Zoom out to 120x, and Night Sight captures Google says are up to four and a half times faster.
Battery, charging and the notification light
Google claims the Pixel 11 Pro XL delivers 15 hours of battery life from a 15-minute wired charge. The Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro support Qi 2.2 wireless charging at 25W, and Pixelsnap magnetic attachment is built in across the line.
The Pro models add HiLight, a notification LED that uses colored light to signal when Gemini is listening, thinking or responding. Notification LEDs largely went out of fashion on flagship phones, as GSMArena notes. Google notes its Gemini features are limited to select countries and languages and to users 18 and over.
The Pixel 11 ships in Pistachio, Hibiscus, Frost and Obsidian. The Pro and Pro XL come in Canyon, Fog, Olive and an all-matte Obsidian.
All three phones carry seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates. The Pro models also include six months of Google AI Pro.
